Drug costs affect your employees and their dependents in many ways, but the total cost of care should be more cause for alarm. Cigna Pharmacy uses our connections across benefits and multiple customer touch points to promote total cost savings that consider mind, body and drug. Our formulary management approach works to make medications more affordable and is also designed to reduce total medical costs for clients.1
As an integrated pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), and unlike a standalone PBM, Cigna can access member medical data and studies. This insight provides answers and initiates actions to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the total cost of health care – not just drug cost. We use clinical and condition-related measurements such as hospitalizations and ER visits to make decisions that improve the performance of our formularies – and your employees.
Our tools, resources, clinical expertise and unrelenting commitment to innovation serve to connect Cigna Pharmacy customers to optimal programs that aim to promote better physical and mental health and lower total cost of care.
Health benefit plans vary, but in general to be eligible for coverage a drug must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), prescribed by a health care professional, purchased from a licensed pharmacy and medically necessary. Some plans require you to use an in-network pharmacy for prescriptions to be covered. Coverage is subject to any plan deductible, copayment and/or coinsurance requirements. Product availability may vary by location and plan type and is subject to change. All group health insurance policies and health benefit plans contain exclusions and limitations. For costs and details of coverage, contact a Cigna representative. Group medical and pharmacy plans are insured and/or administered by Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company or its affiliates.
